Ambrosia came into being after many years of learning and teaching cookery. My mother was a farmer’s wife and was both an excellent and innovative cook. She was serving up Italian and Chinese food in the 1960’s when our neighbours were still going the lamb and three vegetables route. She and I would compete against each other at the local shows. Our sponge cakes were identical.
After school I travelled extensively and attended every cookery lesson I could find. After marrying and settling in Hong Kong I started a vegetarian cookery school and taught Asian and European cuisines.
Food has always been very important in my family and we definitely live to eat. Many of my family and friends are vegetarian or include seafood in their diet, so in each of my classes I provide information on transforming dishes to suit all dietary requirements. I believe food should be shared in an atmosphere of calm enjoyment and good conversation.
